This rustic elm coffee table is from Henan province in Northern China and is crafted using traditional carpentry techniques. These tables would have been used for everyday family meals as well as utility tables. This table dates to circa 1900. 

We love these tables as they're often bijou in size and more practical for a modern contemporary apartment. Whilst elm is naturally a darker wood, this has been bleached over time by the sun, similar to driftwood.
