About the breed
Falkland wool is not a specific, unified breed (at least, not officially), but the sheep raised on the Falkland Islands are well-known for producing high-quality wools.
The islanders started their industry with hardy sheep breeds, probably Corriedale and Romney, and have gradually imported breeds with finer wools, such as Perendale, for added softness.
The terrain in the Falklands is rugged, but because there are no pests for the sheep to contend with, the farmers are able to raise them with a minimal amount of intervention.
